disease. About the Position The Balboa Nephrology Medical Group
Nurse Practitioner is a licensed practitioner who is responsible
for care to patients with acute or chronic kidney/urologic
disorders, those undergoing dialysis, and those who are candidates
for or have undergone kidney transplants. Managing the health
problems and coordinating health care for dialysis-dependent kidney
patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations
and the nursing standards of care. Clinical management is conducted
in collaboration with the supervising Nephrologist and with other
health care team members. Essential responsibilities Preferred
advanced knowledge in nephrology that includes pathophysiology and
management of kidney/urologic conditions and their complications
Functions independently to perform comprehensive care for complex
acute and chronically ill dialysis-dependent patients and chronic
kidney disease patients Orders and interprets diagnostic and
therapeutic tests relative to patient---s age-specific needs
Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic
treatment modalities Monthly chart reviews with physician
Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or
maintain physiologic stability Monitors the effectiveness of
interventions Excellent interpersonal, communication, and
assessment skills Collaborates with physicians by making
appropriate referrals Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Facilitates patient and family education about renal disease,
treatment, and lifestyle changes Demonstrate responsibility and
accountability for professional practice, continued growth, and
self-evaluation Communicate in an attentive and individualized
manner during every patient encounter Remain in constant
communication with physicians Ability to travel to multiple
locations as needed Ability to be flexible with schedule Minimum
qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Graduate
of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program Current Advanced
Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure Current Nurse
Practitioner certification Strong computer skills, Eligible for
hospital privileges Preferred languages Spanish, Vietnamese,
Chinese, Hindi Experience Minimum of 5 years clinical experience as
a Nurse. 1-2 years--- experience in the Nurse Practitioner role
preferred or a new Nurse Practitioner graduate who is motivated to
learn and develop their skills in the field of Nephrology.
