Let's change the world. Amgen is seeking a Strategic Planning and
Operations (SPO) Director to advance Strategic planning and
critical capability initiatives for Global Research. The Director
will report to the Senior Vice President of Research.This critical
position will partner with the Research Senior leadership team, and
key partners across Amgen to develop and implement strategies,
progress innovative initiatives, inform performance, and foster a
culture of effective decision-making continuous improvement. This
role is expected to drive leadership team effectiveness, be a
strategic thought-partner to Research executives, and change
management expert.Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Research leaders to identify and progress priorities
supporting Research Strategic execution, operational effectiveness
and innovative capability builds.
- Manage Research Strategic Planning, Performance Management,
Continuous Improvement, communication and engagement, among other
things.
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize cross-functional information
across a variety of sources to turn unstructured business issues
and requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result
in high quality, meaningful and actionable deliverables.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders;
proactively communicating, seeking advice, and facilitating
critical scientific and business decisions.
- Support the Research SVP in effectively organizing team
meetings to achieve the functional objectives.
- Manage stakeholders by clearly communicating status, issues,
implications and recommendations.
- Ensure Research project success (as assigned), by managing
risks, removing roadblocks, driving innovative thinking,
maintaining fair process, escalating issues and delivering high
quality results.
- Adapt to a rapidly changing, fast-moving and often ambiguous
environment.
- Oversee budget and resource prioritization and effective
allocation.
- Lead continuous initiatives as needed.What we expect of youWe

qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 4 years of
Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience.OrMaster's
degree and 7 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business
experience.OrBachelor's degree and 9 years of Scientific and/or
Operations and/or Business experience.Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in life sciences strongly preferred.
- 4+ years' of experience in Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical
industry, particularly in Research and Development.
- 7+ years' of experience in a cross-functional business
operations or project management role.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including
ability to storyline and prepare executive-level discussion
documents.
- Strong technical skills using digital tools.
- Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated
ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems,
pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage
execution.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to
influence different styles.
- Drug Development knowledge with basic to strong understanding
of activities within Research, Preclinical and Clinical
Development, Medical and Regulatory.
- Independent, motivated, team member with experience in a matrix

for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. If
based in South San Francisco, the salary range is $183,874 -
$222,545. Actual salary will vary based on several factors
including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and
qualifications.In addition to the base salary, Amgen offers a Total
